Peter Sykora, Ph.D.
Dr. Peter Sykora has been an adjunct professor at Georgetown University for 6 years teaching topics including genome engineering, mechanisms of aging (BCHB578), DNA damage and maintenance pathways (BCHB531) and innovation in biotechnology. When not lecturing Dr. Sykora is the Director and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at Amelia Technologies, a biotechnology start-up company located in the heart of DC. Amelia Technologies has received millions of dollars in government funding to develop novel biotechnology. All the scientists at Amelia come from the Georgetown Masters program, and the company currently has two interns from the Biotech stream. They are currently developing a platform to discover new sunscreens for the US consumer market and using CRISPR to create engineered human cell-lines for industrial use. Peter has been a prolific scientist for over two decades, working in government, industry, and academia both in the US and Internationally. He is the associate editor for the “Interventions in Aging” journal and a consultant for local STEM education companies.
