Inspiring the Next Biotechnology Generation: Highlights from Our 2025 High School Summer Biotechnology Academy
This summer, we were thrilled to welcome a diverse group of high school students from across the U.S and around the world to participate in our High School Summer Biotechnology Academy. For two weeks, these motivated and curious students engaged in an immersive learning experience designed to introduce them to the exciting world of biotechnology. Participants had the unique opportunity to work alongside our faculty, graduate students, and researchers in laboratory facilities. Through hands-on experiments and guided lab sessions, students learned essential laboratory techniques, explored cutting-edge topics in biotechnology, and developed a deeper understanding of how science is applied to solve real-world problems.

In addition to laboratory work, the program included lectures, group projects, and discussions that encouraged critical thinking and collaboration. Students also had the chance to learn about career pathways in biotech, and explore the academic and research environment at Georgetown. The High School Summer Biotechnology Academy not only provided valuable technical skills, but also fostered lasting friendships and connections among students with shared interests in science and innovation. We were inspired by their enthusiasm and look forward to seeing how they will shape the future of biotechnology.
