Georgetown Biotechnology Graduates at 2017 BIO Convention in San Diego

Michael Simet (2017) with Kritika Khurana (2015)

Let recent MS Biotechnology graduate Michael Simet’s (2017) story enlighten you to the whirlwind of activity encompassed in the short but intensive M.S. Biotechnology program at Georgetown University. Just last summer, Michael was working as a marine biologist in a lab raising gastropods for neurological research. Looking to expand his own personal abilities and educational standing, he applied to the Master’s in Biotechnology program at Georgetown University in the late winter of 2015. When he came on board in fall 2016, he still wasn’t sure where the program will take him, but knew he was around people who would help him find his way. The advice from his program director, Dr. Jack Chirikjian, was to pursue sales given his outgoing and personable nature. His internship in business development at Ceres Nanosciences, combined with a focus in bio-business courses, as well as an extensive network of alumni connections landed him an associate sales position at Cote Orphan, a regulatory affairs consulting firm.

Michael began working more than a month before graduation, and has even since been promoted to Business Development Manager for the Massachusetts territory at Cote Orphan. Michael was representing the company at their booth at the 2017 Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) in San Diego. Cote Orphan has also recently been acquired by QuintilesIMS, so Michael is now an employee of one of the largest contract research organizations in the industry! True to Dr. C’s advice, Mike is thriving in sales, and is looking to the future for development of his career and self.

The Georgetown Biotech family is extremely proud of all our graduates.
